About the Museum

Let the Museum introduce itself

About Museum of Tarot

Museum of Tarot (or Bảo Tàng Tarot in Vietnamese), founded in 2016 (will officially open in 2017), is located in Can Tho City, in the south of Vietnam. The museum has three themes: Lithotherapy, Cartomancy and Demonology.

It is combined from six main collections related to Tarology:

Fortune Telling Cards (Tarot and Oracles decks), Historical Books and Documents on Cartomancy, Art of Cardmaking and Decoration of Fortune Telling Cards; Amulets and Talismans and Magical Tools; Lithotherapy Crystals and Charmestones; Demonological and Sacred Books and Haunted Objects.

The museum is established in an ancient noble hotel, called “the citron house”, under the Vietnamese renaissance style. This house is sacrificed for the museum by an old couple of lawyer, Anh Ngo and Duong Ho in 2015.

Exploring the Mystical World of the Wild Unknown Tarot Deck

the Wild Unknown Tarot

AAA151

In the mystical realm of Tarot, the “Wild Unknown” deck has created a fresh wave with its uniquely designed and deeply meaningful cards. Created by artist and author Kim Krans, this deck is not just a divination tool but also a true work of art.

First introduced in 2012 and later widely published by Harper Collins in 2016, the Wild Unknown Tarot quickly endeared itself to the global Tarot community. What sets this deck apart is its use of animal and plant imagery instead of traditional human figures, offering a novel and nature-connected perspective.

Each card in the Wild Unknown is an artwork in itself, featuring vibrant and lively hand-drawn illustrations. Kim Krans has skillfully blended color and imagery so that each card carries not just a unique meaning but also conveys strong emotions and energy.

The deck comprises 78 cards, each with a deep and complex significance, reflecting aspects of the natural and spiritual world. Users can find guidance and self-discovery through the messages conveyed by the cards.

The Wild Unknown Tarot is more than a predictive tool; it’s an inspiration for those passionate about exploring themselves and the world around them. It opens up a fresh space for us to connect with our deepest instincts and intuitions.

With its growing popularity, the deck has been translated into over ten languages and is available in various editions, including a convenient pocket version released in 2021. It is undoubtedly an essential addition to the collection of any Tarot enthusiast seeking a connection with the universe.

The Wild Unknown Tarot stands as a testament to the power of art and spirituality, where each card is not just a tool but also a companion on the journey of self-exploration and the mysterious world beyond.

Xiangqi

 Xiangqi

A017

Chinese Chess, also known as Xiangqi, is an intellectual strategy game played between two players. It originated in China and is popular in several Asian countries, including Vietnam.

The game is played on a rectangular board with 32 chess pieces (16 pieces for each player). The main objective is to checkmate the opponent’s general (similar to checkmating the king in chess). Xiangqi requires players to use tactics and skills to capture the opponent’s general.

In addition to China, Xiangqi is also popular in countries with significant Chinese communities, including Vietnam, where it is called “cờ tướng” or “Chinese chess.” The game represents a battle between two armies, with the primary goal being to checkmate the opponent’s general (king). If you’d like to learn more about Xiangqi, you can refer to the Vietnamese Wikipedia page on Chinese chess.

Tu Sac Card

Tứ sắc (Four Colors) is a popular Vietnamese card game, commonly played in the central and southern regions of Vietnam. The game has its origins in China and is considered a precursor to the development of the three-card and “tôm” (shrimp) card sets in Vietnam.

Structure of Tứ sắc:

·        Each Tứ sắc deck consists of 112 cards, divided into 7 “đạo quân” (armies).

·        Each “đạo quân” contains 16 cards, evenly distributed among 4 colors: blue, red, white, and yellow.

·        The card ranks include: General (Tướng), Soldier (Lính), Elephant (Tượng), Tank (Xe Tăng), Cannon (Pháo), Horse (Ngựa), and Pawn (Tốt).

Game Rules:

1.     Dealing: The dealer selects the first player. Each player receives 5 cards per round, divided into 4 rounds for a total of 20 cards.

2.     Drawing: If a player has no valid cards to play, they must draw from the “Venom” pile (remaining cards in the center).

3.     Objective: Complete the total number of cards in your hand by forming valid combinations (“đi”) and discarding unwanted cards.

Mystical World of Tarot: The Artistic Tarot of Hellen Deck

Hellen Tarot

AAA149

In the mystical realm of Tarot, each deck is not just a divination tool but also a unique work of art. The Tarot of Hellen, created by Valerie Bernard and published by AGM Müller in 1999, stands as a quintessential example, blending symbolic botanical imagery with ancient Greek mythological figures.

This deck comprises 78 cards, divided into two main sections: 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards. Each Major Arcana card is associated with a specific plant, ranging from Pansy to Centaury, carrying profound messages and meanings. Meanwhile, the Minor Arcana is categorized into four suits: Leaves, Branches, Flowers, and Grains, each symbolizing an element of nature and life.

The royal cards within the Minor Arcana are represented by ancient Greek deities, from the Page to the Knight, Queen, and King, each wielding their distinct power and authority. “The Fool” is numbered 0, symbolizing beginnings and innocence, while “Strength” and “Justice” are numbered 11 and 8, reflecting the balance between inner power and societal fairness.

Each card measures 7.00cm x 12.00cm, facilitating easy handling and contemplation. The language used on the cards is English, making interpretation accessible to a global audience. The back of the cards is unspecified, allowing for a touch of mystery and room for imagination.

The Tarot of Hellen is more than a predictive tool; it is an inspired artwork that opens a portal to a spiritual and mysterious world where the fusion of nature and mythology embarks one on a rich and diverse journey of self-discovery.
