The Pyramid Spread
Exploring the Depths of Tarot: The Pyramid Spread
In the mystical world of tarot, the cards serve as a mirror to the soul, reflecting the multifaceted aspects of our lives. Among the myriad of spreads used by tarot enthusiasts, the Pyramid Spread stands out for its unique ability to delve deep into the querent’s situation, offering a structured path to understanding.
The Foundation of Insight At the base of the Pyramid Spread lies the trio of cards that form the foundation of the reading. These cards are pivotal, as they encapsulate the present circumstances, the bedrock on which the querent’s current state rests. It’s here that the journey begins, with the cards whispering tales of the now, urging the querent to acknowledge their reality.
Ascending the Pyramid As we ascend the pyramid, the middle layer, composed of two cards, reveals the dynamics at play. These cards are the harbingers of change, indicating the forces that will shape the querent’s path forward. They are the winds of transformation, sometimes gentle and guiding, other times tumultuous and challenging.
The Apex of Resolution At the pinnacle of the spread, the final card crowns the pyramid. This card is the key to resolution, the beacon of hope or the harbinger of caution. It encapsulates the outcome, the potential end-point of the querent’s journey, influenced by the interplay of the foundational and evolutionary cards below.
A Tapestry of Interpretations The beauty of the Pyramid Spread lies in its versatility. Each card is a thread in the tapestry of the querent’s narrative, with active and passive energies interwoven to create a complete picture. The spread avoids the dichotomy of positive and negative, instead embracing the more nuanced concepts of action and receptivity.
A Comparative Perspective While similar in card count to the traditional French Cross, the Pyramid Spread offers a richer tableau of insights. It’s a more intricate dance of interpretations, where each position and each layer adds depth and dimension to the reading.
In the hands of a skilled reader, the Pyramid Spread is not just a method of divination but a tool for personal growth. It invites introspection and provides a roadmap for the querent’s inner journey, encouraging them to explore the labyrinth of their psyche and emerge with newfound understanding.

Tarot de Marseille by Paul Marteau
Tarot de Marseille: Review by Paul Marteau
When I read tarot for my clients, I don’t arrange the cards in a specific way within a certain timeframe. Instead, I let the cards indicate the specific timing. From the beginning of October, the Christmas season starts to emerge, it’s within our reach. There are only 76 days left until Christmas! Yesterday, I saw two very different examples of the arrival of Christmas.

About the Tarot de Marseille deck by Paul Marteau
- The deck consists of 78 cards and a small guidebook placed in a soft paper box. Practitioners of the RWS (Rider-Waite-Smith) tarot are usually accustomed to large, sturdy boxes and may be surprised to receive a tarot deck in such a thin cardboard package, considering it a low-end product. However, the Tarot de Marseille decks are typically accompanied by small sheets summarizing the use of tarot very briefly. The tarot community considers learning tarot through reading books, attending courses, or training. Additionally, the Tarot de Marseille has been standardized, so all versions are nearly identical, except for a few minor details, hence publishers do not need to provide additional information through a guide. Of course, the original and unique RWS tarot deck comes with a guide explaining the deck’s unique features. The cards in this set are standard size, about 12x6 cm, easy to handle for those with smaller hands. The printing material is a sufficiently thick type of plastic-coated card, and the print quality is normal and standard.
