Brognard School
In the rich history of Brognard
School, there’s a fascinating chapter from the 1930s. Back then, the school
embraced cutting-edge techniques, including the use of a gramophone (a
precursor to hi-fi systems) and a wireless telegraphy system (TSF). Remarkably, this happened in a village with only 12 radio
sets1. The students
engaged in unique experiences, communicating through school newspapers, which
helped them develop knowledge in science, geography, history, and languages.
However, technological advancements soon reached the school. It acquired a
gramophone and a TSF, even though the village had limited access to radios.
These innovations marked the progress of education during that era.
Additionally, I’d like to share
another documentary film titled “Dans la classe de Sophie”. It explores an educational space inspired by Freinet
pedagogy, aiming for a third-type school in an urban area sensitive to
educational alternatives in Saint-Ouen2.
