AA064:Unveiling the Mysteries of Tarot: A Personal Perspective

 LA FOLIE OU L'ALCHIMISTE

AA064

In the realm of Tarot, there exists a diversity of opinions and approaches, much like various schools of thought. This article delves into my personal perspective on Tarot, drawing upon my experiences and insights.

1. The Term "Playing Tarot"

While the term "playing Tarot" may be considered inappropriate by some, I employ it to convey the interactive nature of my Tarot practice. It's akin to engaging in a dialogue with the cards, rather than seeking strict predictions or divinations. I view the Tarot as a companion, an objective observer offering guidance amidst personal dilemmas or those of others.

2. The Significance of a Deck's Name

Beyond its formal title, such as Rider-Waite Tarot or Morgan Greer, I believe each Tarot deck possesses a unique identity, akin to a personal name bestowed upon an individual. Just as every person carries a distinct essence, so too does each deck embody its own character and energy. This personal connection between owner and deck fosters a deeper understanding of the cards' messages.

3. The Role of Zodiac Signs

Zodiac signs, often used to shed light on one's personality, can also be incorporated into Tarot interpretations. However, I emphasize that the true nature of a Tarot deck's personality is revealed through its interactions with the reader. The deck's unique voice and manner of expression emerge over time, providing insights into its inherent traits.

4. Embracing Free-Style Spreads

I subscribe to a free-style approach to Tarot card spreads, having evolved from structured layouts of 3, 5, or 10 cards. Rigid adherence to predefined spreads hindered my intuitive connection with the cards. Instead, I allow the flow of the reading to guide me, embracing spontaneity to uncover the most accurate interpretations.

5. The Power of Uninhibited Intuition

Tarot readings, in my view, demand an openness to intuition, akin to embodying the spirit of The Fool card. Setting aside rational thinking and tapping into inner wisdom fosters a deeper connection with the cards' messages. This approach has led me to profound revelations that might have eluded me under a more structured mindset.

6. The Question of Self-Talk and Tarot

The perception of conversing with a Tarot deck as a form of self-absorption is subjective. While I initially engaged in such dialogues, I no longer find it necessary as the cards' responses have become more direct and intuitive. The images and symbols on the cards themselves convey the messages, eliminating the need for verbal exchanges.

7. Unveiling the Deck's Gender Identity

Similar to the concepts of personal names and personalities, I believe that a Tarot deck's gender identity can be discerned through a deep connection with the deck. For those attuned to such nuances, the deck's inherent gender will eventually make itself known.

8. Respecting the Deck's Preferences

As the owner and caretaker of a Tarot deck, I adopt a respectful stance towards its preferences. Just as one might honor the tastes of a close friend or companion, I acknowledge the deck's individuality and avoid imposing my own desires upon it. This approach fosters a harmonious relationship with the deck, enhancing its effectiveness as a tool for guidance and self-discovery.

9. Seeking Medical Advice from Tarot

While Tarot can offer valuable insights into personal matters, it should never be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. Health concerns demand the expertise of qualified medical professionals, ensuring accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans.

10. Sleeping with the Cards: A Personal Choice

The practice of sleeping with one's Tarot deck is a matter of personal preference. Some individuals find comfort and deeper connection in this intimate proximity, while others prefer a more structured approach, storing the deck in a designated box or drawer. Ultimately, the choice lies with the individual and their unique relationship with their Tarot companion.
